Editorial Policy
## Research Methodology
The Olive Oil Standard uses a multi-layer research approach:
**Layer 1 — Codex Compilation:** Every article begins with a structured knowledge base compiled from peer-reviewed literature, official standards (IOC, USDA, EU PDO), and primary production research.
**Layer 2 — Source Verification:** All health claims require peer-reviewed studies. All quality claims require chemical testing data from accredited labs.
**Layer 3 — Expert Review:** Claims involving food safety or health are cross-referenced against guidance from EFSA, FDA, and WHO.
**Layer 4 — Continuous Update:** When new research emerges — including studies that contradict our current guidance — we update the relevant article and log the change.
